Rajeshwar Rao joined State Bank of India as Probationary Officer in 1964. .He worked for over 37 years before retiring from the bank as Chief General Manager [Treasury] In his career progression, he has had the privilege of handling varied assignments in India and abroad .He was head of the Overseas Branch , Bangalore, Deputy General Manager Zonal office Hyderabad, Deputy General Manager Treasury Management Group International Division Corporate Center Mumbai where his responsibilities included management of banks foreign currency resources at a time when the country was embroiled in balance of payment crisis
Rajeshwar Rao was on the faculty of State Bank Staff College for 4 years .He taught foreign exchange and international banking to senior officers of the bank.
Rajeshwar Rao was the Chief Dealer at SBI NewYork Branch and Chief Executive Officer of Frankfurt Branch, Germany
Rajeshwar Rao participated in international training program for 51/2months conducted by IRI, Rome He was attached to Credito Italiana, Rome and Milan .His training was in the area of international banking.. He attended Foreign Exchange Trading Workshop conducted by Credit Suisse Boston USA and Euromoney training on fixed income securities at London
Rajeshwar Rao was on the Boards of the Central Depository Services of India Ltd and Clearing Corporation of India Ltd Mumbai .He was a member of the Business Development Committee of Bombay Stock Exchange, Mumbai .He was also a member of the Working Group constituted by the Reserve Bank of India to evolve a frame work for collecting and sharing by banks /financial institutions of information on private placement debt
Post retirement, State Bank of Hyderabad engaged Rajeshwar Rao to study their extant systems and suggest modifications for management of market risks and facilitate integration of domestic and forex treasuries .He was also Government appointed Chair-Person of Vasavi Co-operative Urban Bank Ltd,Hyderabad.
Presently Rajeswara Rao is a faculty member in Risk management and institute of insurance and Risk management
( IIRM )Hyderabad.
