Mr. Datla K M S Raju is a Graduate in Commerce and Law. He also holds an MBA and is also a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of India. He started his career as an advocate in the Civil courts in 1983 and practiced Law for two years till 1985.
He joined as a Direct Recruit Officer in M/S The Oriental Insurance Company Ltd in 1985 from where he moved up the cadres and held several responsible positions like in-charge of Underwriting and Claims, Head of Regional Underwriting and Claims – Marine, Liability & Miscellaneous departments and in-charge of Regional Training Centre. During his career with Oriental he handled insurance of several large industrial, project and construction risks and related claims. He left Oriental in 2001 as a senior Divisional Manager. Mr. Raju joined Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company Ltd as the Regional Manager for the State of Andhra Pradesh where he established the regional operations of the company and achieved great success in putting the company as a formidable player in the market. Mr. Raju joined thereafter as the Chief Underwriter – Marine, Casualty and Financial lines – at Cholamandalam M S General Insurance Company Ltd. He had set up the underwriting and reinsurance and IT systems of the company.
In the year 2004, Mr. Raju promoted VISISTA Risk Management Services Private Limited, a broking company at Hyderabad and later became the Managing Director in 2005. He is instrumental in putting the strategy for the company’s foray into Broking and Risk Management Activities. Mr. Raju regularly delivers lectures on General Insurance and Management at different educational institutions and seminars.
