Mr. C.P. Ramaswami is a graduate in Chemistry from Presidency College, Madras and in Law from Madras Law College. He is currently doing Ph D in International Taxation – off Campus Bits Pillani on the topic Tax Avoision through double taxation avoidance agreements by Transnational Corporations’ and has already submitted his final thesis in July 2005.
Mr. Ramaswami started his career in 1974 as a practicing advocate. He then joined Indian Revenue Service in 1976. He possesses vast experience in various Departments of Income Tax like in Assessments, Investigation, Appellate Tribunal and then as Commissioner of Income Tax both in Appeals and in Administration. In his career of nearly three decades Mr. Ramaswami has handled with erudition complex tax related matters which won him high acclaim from various quarters in public life.
Mr. Ramaswami has been a regular contributor of many authoritative articles on Taxation and Corporate Governance in Tax Journals, News papers, periodicals, etc and is a well known speaker at several industrial forums and seminars.
He is presently a visiting faculty in the National Academy for Direct Taxes, Nagpur, National Police Academy, Hyderabad, UTI ICM, Direct Taxes Regional Training Institute of Bangalore, Bombay, Calcutta and Lucknow, BITS Pillani, JNIDB, Hyderabad and now also at IIRM, Hyderabad.
