ACTUARIAL SCIENCES COURSE
 

The Course:

The course is called the P.G. Diploma in Actuarial Sciences of IIRM. Due care is taken to teach the same subjects prescribed for the Associate examinations of the Institute of Actuaries of  India (IAI) and at the same stringent standards, so that the students get well prepared to take up the IAI examinations with a good deal of confidence. Our examinations will only whet the preparation for IAI. examinations.

IIRM also conducts its own examinations and the qualified students are awarded the designation of PG Dip(Act.Sc.). Passing the Diploma examination is a compulsory requirement.

The Course is for a period of two academic years and in eight modules, spread over two semesters each Year.  The academic year starts from July every year. There will be a qualifying examination at the end of each module for the two subjects taught during that module. The details are :

  1. The Course is for two-years spread over 8 modules, 2 semesters per year. Each semester contains 2 modules and each module covers 2 subjects. Each module is for duration of around 10 weeks (two and half months) covering two subjects only and related tutorial work.

 

  1. The First Year will cover 8 subjects and two subjects per module. This will cover all the CT series subjects (CT 1 to CT 8) during the year. The very first month is devoted to revise mathematics/calculus/statistics which is a precursor to the regular course subjects.

 

  1. Please read this in conjunction with point 7 under enrollment rules. Students may enroll on partial basis also for the subjects they intend to take at IAI examinations. Differential fees will be charged for such students. For these students of partial enrollment, only a “Certificate of Attendance” and marks sheet will be issued, only for the subjects they enrolled.

 

  1. The course schedule will be for 6 day a week and 6 hours a day of class room lectures / tutorials.

 

  1. Students will have IIRM examinations leading to the Diploma apart from the IAI examinations at convenient intervals, for which they will register to appear twice a year.

 

  1. Students who pass the IIRM examinations for both years with a 55% threshold marks will be eligible for a P.G.Diploma (Actuarial Science) issued by IIRM. This is irrespective of the results at the IAI examinations. IAI will give their individual designations as and when the students pass the IAI examinations.

 

  1. Students who pass the 1st year examinations of IIRM (irrespective of the IAI examinations results) will be awarded a Diploma (Actuarial Science) of IIRM.
