Mr. J. Hari Narayan, former Chief Secretary, Government of Andhra Pradesh has been appointed as Chairman of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDA) for a period of five years and assumed charge on 12th June, 2008. He is from the 1970 batch of IAS officers and amongst other assignments held was a District Collector of Srikakulam and Krishna Districts of Andhra Pradesh. He also held the post of Secretary – Irrigation Department in Andhra Pradesh Government and later served as Secretary, Union Ministry of Water Resources Development, New Delhi, before appointment as Chief Secretary.
