Shri G.N. Bhaskar Rau has spent 40 years with the Life Insurance Corporation of India in various capacities in Administration, Marketing and Customer Servicing.
Shri Rau has been interested in insurance academics since 1963, taking keen interest in the educational activities of the Insurance Institute of India (Mumbai), at various local affiliated Institute levels, wherever he was working. He has won the S.K. Desai Memorial Prizes awarded by the Insurance Institute of India, Mumbai, twice in the years 1981 and 1989, for his research papers.
Shri Rau later joined the National Insurance Academy (Pune), in the year 1991, while he was working at the Northern Zone of L.I.C. of India as Its Assistant Secretary- Inspection. He worked at N.I.A, on deputation from L.I.C. of India, as a Research Associate, with additional Faculty responsibilities, till his retirement in 1998.
During his stay with N.I.A. Shri Rau has contributed several research articles and also four major research Reports. One of his research work titled "Estimation of Human Capital Values to Assess Life Insurance Potential" won the international Award (the FAIR Award) from the Federation of Afro-Asian Insurers and Reinsurers. He was also associated with the editorial work of 'DNYANAJYOTHI', the then Journal of N.I.A.
Post-retirement Shri Rau is continuing his academic work as visiting Faculty for several educational institutes in Hyderabad.
